Spud the Stud!

wow. it’s been awhile since my last post. been pretty busy. sorry.

so meagan got her driver’s license last wednesday! she was so excited! and when she came home from her dad’s there was a little surprise waiting on her! yeah, shane bought a suzuki samurai from a guy at work… stick shift, but this weekend, she was bound and determined to learn how to use it and sure enough, when she started school yesterday as a junior, she proudly drove it like a pro!

i’m so proud of her! she’s so accomplished already, and not even 17 yet!

i will admit, it’s a little rough riding, and hey, it’s a 1988 model so it’s had better days, but she really handles it well. she says she loves it, and she named it Spud the Stud lol. we even offered to help her paint it, improve it, etc. and she just won’t have it! she says it’s perfect the way it is! hey, i’m all for that!

so saturday, she and i went to wal-mart, and in the parking lot there were free kittens, and she picked one out. she name her Stella lol. just what we need. but i told her it was her decision and she’d have to deal with shane. she’s so cute. he couldn’t resist her! and neither can these kids lol…

oh and we’re starting her a small business. nothing much. she’s calling it oodles of odd jobs by meagan… catchy! she’s really good at helping people. and they pay her really well, too. so hopefully, we’ve found a way for her to keep Spud’s gas tank full and a little extra spending money for herself!

well… the carpet ppl will be here tomorrow.

so exciting! but frustrating as hell. we still have to live here. and shane and i both have to work. so all the furniture has to be moved out and the old carpet has to be pulled up, exposing the tacks. this pretty much means we will have the two of us, a teenager, a seven yr old and two toddlers contained into one very small and cramped den with furniture piled up all around us tonight.

maybe i should have gotten a hotel room till all of this is over. hahaha, nah, we will deal with it, and we will be fine.

my beautiful meagan left for yet another church camp this morning. i don’t guess it ever gets any easier to watch them grow. hey, i know. at least it’s church camp and she’s a good girl and i’m fortunate and all that. it could be alot worse, i hear! anyway. she’s gone for a whole week.

she’s actually gone for alot this summer. she goes to year-round charter school, so she gets a four week break. and two weeks of it she will be at two different church camps and a week with mike over july 4 holiday. she deserves it! she needs a break from me and these kids (and shane, too lol).

she stays on high honor roll and her GPA this past quarter was actually a 4.3 – i could hardly believe it! look out, college is right around the corner…

uggh… being at the mercy of others.

so lowe’s is in charge of the installation of our new carpet. well, it was supposed to be a guaranteed 72 hour (not counting wkends) installation. but they are obviously 2-3 weeks out lol. oh well. another change in plans…

anyway. i will just adjust. i seem to be good at that once the anger settles!

i will live in disarray with new furniture up on ends everywhere throughout the house until the carpet is laid and we can get back to normal. there have been worse times!

my mind is always turning…

well, we have been so very excited about the construction on our house… we are enclosing the double car garage and making it into a very large bedroom for the boys. it’s a long, expensive process that shane and i have been trying to do ourselves with little knowledge. well, anyway. we are still workin on the ceiling. and we just paid a guy to come do an estimate on carpet in three rooms today. so this furniture is coming from shane’s mom in savh. and she called and said the delivery guy is basically “unemployed” as far as she is concerned and now i’m turning the wheels trying to figure out how to get all this stuff from there to here. THIS WKEND… well, shane and i have always been pretty good at pulling things off. will keep u posted!

well. we didn’t do karaoke. we had a little dinner at the bar at millhouse and listened to the band.

today, we need to do some cleaning and try to finish up this bedroom we’re making for the boys. they need some more space. so we enclosed the garage and are now working on the ceiling. i admit we really don’t know what we’re doing so we kinda have to do it a step at a time and ask for help here and there. we’ve got new furniture coming in this week and the room’s not done! don’t know where we will put it all until we figure out what we need to keep. we decided to go ahead and carpet the rest of the house when they do the boy’s room. so alot of shuffling around this week. well, meagan will be gone for almost two weeks so we will have to use her room to store stuff.

change is exciting! thanks to shane’s mom… we love you!

rounding out my birthday wkend…

my birthday was thursday… i celebrate through the weekend. i wore a tiara to work on the 4th and two of my regulars brought me flowers. it was an awesome day! then, friday night shane took me and my tiara-adorned self to 119 chops here in the boro while meagan treated me to a night of FREE babysitting woo-hoo!!! after that, we went over to french qtr and met some friends then headed to gnats landing to finish the night off… good time!

TONIGHT – the party continues! I have no idea what we’re gonna do, but the free babysitting offer continues so WHY NOT??? guess i’ll have to call some friends and see what’s goin on tonight. all i know about so far is karaoke at the french quarter but the beer wasn’t so cold last night and sean, our favorite bartender won’t be there either.

oh, i didn’t say it, but i’m a cool 38. hey, i’m lookin good for my age, what with five kids and all!!! there were some pretty wild pics taken last night. more to come soon!

We live in Statesboro, GA and Leigh (mom) decided this is a way to keep in touch with our friends and family, and keep them all posted on the events in our little world.

We moved here from Savannah, our home town, in 1999 so Shane could be closer to his job. We really do like Statesboro. It’s easy to get from point A to point B in a short amount of time. Anytime we go to Sav we hate the traffic. We love the schools, the quiet, and adore our house. One of the things we don’t like is that there aren’t enough restaurants to satisfy our desire to eat out. Oh, and they don’t serve beer in restaurants on Sunday like they do in Sav.

Shane works for Wal-Mart at the distribution center up here as a Data Processing Manager, and I am an Applebee’s bartender. Meagan is top in her high school, and i’m so proud! Mikey lives with his dad now in rincon. He’s happier there, though we miss having him around, but i’m sure he enjoys the quiet! Averee Jade is going into the 2nd grade and is getting a good tan at summer camp. Fletcher Nash is exactly what you would expect out of a “Fletcher”… he’s a rambunctious, lively, spirited four year old that laughs at everything, and his little brother Jackson Brooks is my little “Langford Baby”. He’s the one i think looks and acts just like a Langford.

I know, 5 kids, right? What were we thinking?

Well, anyway. I will try to keep this whole blog thing updated from time-to-time. Till next time – Leigh
